Child dies in car park incident



Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a fatal collision in Blackburn North on Saturday evening.

A child was struck by a vehicle in a car park just off Springfield Road about 6.45pm on 30 September.

Paramedics worked on the three-year-old boy, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Another child sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a 49-year-old Mooroolbark man, stopped at the scene.

He was arrested and released pending further enquiries.

The circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be established and the investigation remains ongoing.
