Six youths have been arrested after an armed robbery in Mooroolbark on Tuesday 11 May.
Investigators from the Pandilla Taskforce detectives have been told the youths approached a 16 year old victim on Esther Crescent around 2.45pm.
They have then allegedly produced a knife and made demands of the victim before stabbing him in the leg.
The victim has been taken to hospital with severe leg injuries.
A number of police vehicles and a helicopter on Bellara Road were seen around the time of the incident.
The youths fled the scene but were later located by police only a short distance away.
