New station reveals

Workers have been busy getting Lilydale and Mooroolbark stations prepared for the long awaited reopening on Friday 19 November.

After an extra delay by two days, trains will be operating from first service on Friday morning at 4.30am departing Lilydale.

Train drivers have been conducting trial runs of the train line over the last few days to ensure signaling and tracks are working correctly.

Mount Evelyn’s Yarra View Garden Centre will be handing out free plants to the community as a way to mark the historical day at both stations.

Station tours are also available for Mooroolbark over the course of the morning for 10 participants each.

The tours will be run by the project team at 8am, 8.30am, 10am and 10.30am for 15 minutes and will be the first look at the newly constructed station.

While the launch back to train travel will occur on Friday, works will continue into 2022 as the final touches are completed.
