Recycling truck fire a reminder of correct disposal

Lilydale CFA has issued a reminder about the appropriate disposal of waste and recycling after attending a large rubbish fire.

The brigade, alongside Chirnside Park CFA, was called to a recycling truck fire on Friday 19 September.

A fire had started within the rear of a recycling rubbish truck and had been dumped in a clear area for firefighters to extinguish, as per their protocols.

The fire was approximately 15x4m and well alight when crews arrived. The fire was extinguished and broken apart by crews before the rubbish was put into a skip and covered with a layer of foam to prevent re-ignition.
