Lilydale Tennis Club kicks off winter season well



This week marked the commencement of the 14-week Eastern region Winter season.

Junior Open Singles Doubles (JOSD4) v Mooroolbark Heights

Lilydale was represented by Alex Paladino, Rishabh Chowdhury, Ari Marappan and Adam Paladino.

Lilydale played at home against Mooroolbark Heights. Lilydale played well but Mooroolbark were too strong taking the win 6 sets to 2.

Result: 2-6, 1-6, 6-4, 0-6, 1-6, 6-0, 5-7, 6-7

Junior Open Doubles (JOD8) v Upwey South

Lilydale was represented by Ryan Taylor, Ivy Pieper, Alex Bowyer and Lachie Sweet.

Lilydale played away at Upwey South. Upwey started well, leading 3 sets to 1. Lilydale fought back to even the match at 3 sets all. Overall Lilydale won the day by 31 games to 28.

Result: 6-4, 4-6, 6-5, 6-4, 2-6, 4-6

Open Rubbers 13 (OR13) v Blackburn North

Lilydale was represented by David Halkidis and Noah Burow.

Lilydale played away against Blackburn North. In this first round match, it was Blackburn that came away with the win 4 sets to 1.

Result: 0-6, 3-6, 0-6, 1-6, 6-3,

Open Rubbers 14 (OR14) v Guy Turner Reserve

Lilydale was represented by James Buckland and Alex Jerin.

Lilydale played at home against Guy Turner Reserve.

In a very competitive match Lilydale won the day 3 sets to 2, winning 26 games to 20.

Result: 6-1, 6-0, 7-6, 2-6, 5-7

Open Rubbers 20 (OR20) v Wonga Park

Lilydale was represented by Levi Daly and Tim Bassett.

Lilydale played at home against Wonga Park in what was a grand final rematch.

In a close match it was Lilydale who won the day 3 sets to 2 – winning 26 games to 17.

Result: 4-6, 6-2, 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 (10-0 Super tie break)

Open Rubbers 24 (OR24) v Wantirna Blue

Lilydale was represented by Harry Trevillyan and Rory Brilliant.

Lilydale played at home against Wantirna Blue.

In a tough first round, it was Wantirna that took the match 5 sets to 0.

Result: 4-6, 3-6, 3-6, 1-6, 0-6
